WHAT IS DENTAL CONTACT LENS?
      Popularly, the name contact lenses is used to name the veneers of ultrathin dental ceramics. They have, on average, 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters. This makes it possible to perform them with minimal tooth preparation, thus keeping more of the tooth structure intact. These preparations are  tooth wear, which can vary between 0.2 to 1.5 millimeters, depending on the case. Even with thin thicknesses, the laminates after cemented in the tooth become resistant structures.

      Lenses are commonly used as a way to reshape teeth and smile. In addition, the method can repair staining defects and multi-tooth correction cases. Some examples are inverted smile curves, wide buccal corridor, diastema and short teeth. Each case must be evaluated individually. As they are very thin laminates, there are some restrictions for their placement.

      It is worth noting that the  indication for the use of lenses should be made after an adequate clinical examination  by a dental professional. If the patient has any oral disease, the laminates should not be placed. Some cases that cannot go through the method are those who suffer from:
- great loss of healthy tooth structure;
- fractures or cracks;
- caries;
- accentuated stains;
- untreated bruxism;
- Root canal treated teeth.

   BEFORE AND AFTER: CARING FOR DENTAL CONTACT LENSES

       In order for the placement of ultrathin veneers to happen, the patient needs to be in complete health. It is also recommended to carry out other aesthetic treatments prior to the preparation and bonding of the laminates.  Teeth whitening, for example, makes the tooth clearer to fix the lenses.  For those who care for good maintenance, hygiene habits and periodic visits to the dentist, this dental treatment can last 15 years or more.
